Job completed for Scott A.
Completion date: April 11, 2006
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Solutions provided:
This homeowner reached out to Americrawl after noticing sagging floors and moisture concerns coming from their crawl space. Upon inspection, our team discovered several underlying issues, including excess groundwater intrusion, deteriorating floor joists, and inadequate moisture protection. Additionally, the crawl space access was outdated and not sealed properly, contributing to poor air circulation and energy inefficiency.
The project began with the installation of the AmeriDrain crawl space drainage system, a perimeter solution designed to collect and redirect water entering the crawl space. This system channels groundwater to a centralized basin, preventing standing water and reducing soil moisture around the foundation.
To manage the collected water, we installed the AmeriSump sump station, a powerful and efficient sump pump system built to actively discharge water away from the home. The AmeriSump includes a sealed lid to reduce humidity and odors, and a high-quality liner for long-lasting performance.
Our team then performed necessary floor joist repairs, reinforcing compromised areas with new treated lumber to restore structural integrity and prevent future sagging or failure. These repairs were essential to protect the living space above and ensure safety and stability.
To help manage ongoing ground moisture and protect the newly repaired structure, we installed a 6-mil vapor barrier across the crawl space floor. This liner serves as a moisture barrier, reducing humidity levels and improving air quality throughout the home.
Lastly, we upgraded the crawl space access, replacing the old entry point with a new, secure door system to improve ease of access.
