Job completed for Jim A.
Completion date: October 27, 2011
Location: Carmel, IN
Solutions provided:
This homeowner reached out to Americrawl with concerns about the structural integrity and overall condition of their crawl space. Upon inspection, our team identified several critical issues, including wood rot in the sill plate, weakened floor joists, poor access to the crawl space, and general debris accumulation. Moisture was also a contributing factor to the deterioration of structural components.
The project began with the removal of debris and damaged insulation throughout the crawl space. This cleanout was essential to properly assess and prepare the area for both structural repair and encapsulation. Americrawls crew performed a sill plate replacement, carefully removing rotted wood and replacing it with pressure-treated lumber to restore the perimeter foundation's structural support. In addition, sister joists were installed alongside compromised joists to strengthen the floor system and restore its load-bearing capacity.
To provide lasting protection against moisture and further deterioration, we installed the CleanSpace Encapsulstion system. This heavy-duty liner was mechanically fastened to the floor and walls of the crawl space, creating a clean and sealed environment that prevents moisture intrusion and improves air quality throughout the home.
We also upgraded the crawl space access by installing a new, secure access door, making it easier for future inspections and ensuring the encapsulated space remains properly sealed.
